I hope been at the hospital with Genny and John nsince Thursday. So far. the little one is still where he is supposed to be. Contractions start and stop off and on. We should know what we are doing by Monday, according to the doctor. Mike is holding down the fort at the ranch. I miss him and talk to him daily.

June 28, 2010

It is hot, hot, hot. We need some rain. The ground has cracks. The chickens are doing great. The chicken palace is nearing completion. Seven chicken snakes have been killed and another one has been spotted. It ate the eggs on the porch. We are raising a crop of the snakes. They are fast and aggressive.

May 30,2010

It is hot, in the 90's and humid. Dad (Papaw) is doing well. Even though he has more medical tests, he is excited that he does not have to have stints put in at this time. The surgeon said he was in great shape for his age. He does have some blockage, but not enough to warrant the surgery. He was greatly relieved. Mike is healing nicely and slowly becoming more active. Our green beans Dad planted in the garden were in our stir-fry and our apricots were in our pie tonight. It is exciting to be able to feed ourselves with the food we grow. Our chickens are growing and the adults are providing us with eggs. We have eaten some of our quail. Dad knows how to make them very tasty. I hope to plant some more vegetables tomorrow. Life can be exciting!

May 5, 2010

Dad is going through medical tests for his heart and probably a hernia. He likes his doctor and the nurses. He loves to joke and joke. Mike has surgery tomorrow for his hernias. It should be an easy surgery, according to his doctor. He is an interesting doctor. We like him.
Our chickens are doing well. I love watching chickens. They are very intertaining. I have 24 quail eggs incubating and 5 chicken eggs. I bought a new incubator because the other one became unreliable. My nephew-in-law is helping me build a new chicken yard and house so we can separate the chickens. Eddie, my brother-in-law, likes pure breeds. I like several types of chickens and don't care if they are pure breeds as long as they lay great eggs.
I love going to the swimming pool and working out in the pool. I am not the swimmer I used to be. Spring is here and plants are growing. Life is never boring!

April 7,2010

I can't believe it is all ready the 7th. I am at Mashaide's. She gave birth to Ilioso on March 29th. He is little, but is doing well. His mother is ready to bring him home. I hope I get to spend some time with him before I go home. It was such a blessing to be with Mashaide and be a coach to the birth. She was great. It is a priviledge to be here.

Third week in February

Well I'm not capable of changing my background without help. I like Christmas anyway. I spent an hour on it tonight and still haven't been able to change it. I have been busy planting seeds in tiny pots in the greenhouse. We mist them every day I can hardly wait until the Swiss chard is ready to eat. I dug up the calladiums and reworked the soil. I will replant them the middle of March when the frosts are over. One day it is warm, the next day it is 22 degrees. I have a lot to do. I made a great dinner Feb. 13th because I felt good. The other dinners have been okay. I am feeling like doing more now that I feel better. Sinus infections knock me down.

Winter

It is cold and damp again. It will be 20 degrees in the morning. It makes caring for the chickens and quail chilly. It gets my blood pumping. Sometimes I take a nap afterwards, just to get warm. Church was great this afternoon. We meet from 1 to 4 pm. I think I napped through sacrament meeting-it was too cold in the meeting. Mike is feeling better. I have been knitting while he drives us to our errands. I have finished some stuff that I was supposed to do before the Jamul fire. I have been getting Spring fever and have been cleaning some of the home and planting in the green house.

January

I can't remember how to change the background so I am still using the Christmas theme. My children know I love Christmas. Mike and Cheri have been under the weather with different ailments. Hopefully, they are getting better. I have stayed busy worrying, doing, and annoying everyone (my best talent), and taking care of the animals. I boiled quail eggs today and I am putting them in my salad tomorrow. Yum! Next week I plan to eat some quail. I will be planting in raised beds in the green house Eddie finished.
